Trust Audit

One of the factors of great concern facing most employers today is the loss of employee loyalty and the widening of the trust gap between employers and their employees. This global phenomenon, magnified in South Africa due to social changes, and Employment Equity interventions necessary to bring about these changes, is having serious financial effects on many South African organisations. It has now become vitally important for organisations to establish the extent of internal trust relationships and to make special efforts to close the trust gap, where necessary. The instrument was developed after intensive research in 30+ companies and 10 000 participants.

Purpose of the audit

The purpose of the trust audit is to determine the trust relationship between managers and employees as well as the impact of change on this relationship.

  • Managerial practices:

Benchmarks

For interpretation purposes, a common-metric scale was developed. This can be used as a benchmark to measure companies’ results against.

Some practical benefits of conducting a trust audit:

  2. The key aspects to focus on in order to improve trust relationships are determined.
  3. The most important managerial practices to improve are highlighted.
  4. The impact of change processes is measured.
  5. It provides an opportunity to embark on a project to improve trust relationships or to repair damaged trust relationships.
  6. It provides the opportunity to deal with areas of concern in a non-threatening manner.
  7. It highlights trust relationship strengths and weaknesses specific to an organisation.
  8. Recommendations for improving the developmental areas are given, based on international research.
  9. Benchmark results are provided.
